death in hollywood

death in hollywood

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern

The city was warmed by your passion

And your wildfire desire took me too

Leave me to grieve, leave the lights on

Hell isn’t the same without you

Leave me to grieve, leave the lights on

Hell isn’t the same without you

The sweetest song off in the distance

It was the big stage a-calling your name

Hush mhuirnin, there’s nobody watching

And the world wasn’t always so lame

Hush mhuirnin, there’s nobody watching

As we live and we die in disdain

They told you once, “kid, break a leg”

If they meant it, you’d weathered it fair

But sleep now, tomorrow’s rehearsal

And I’ll pray that I might see you there

But sleep now, tomorrow’s rehearsal

And someday the world but feign to care
