maiden of the mist

maiden of the mist

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern

Maiden of the mist

Daughter of the dawn

Echoes in the breeze

Of her old, familiar song

It calms my mind

And it warms my heart

Sheds light upon the world when it’s cold and dark

Her hands of gracious wisdom

Her kind and loving soul

Her beauty grew with time

And she never got old

If you needed a laugh or you needed a hand

There was someone to go to who’d always understand

Always gave the party life

Even at 92

Maiden of the mist

I won’t forget you

strange, when I read the phrase Maiden of the Mist...I do not think grandmother. immediately I think King Arthur, and then Monty Python. Perhaps it might be nice to explain why that particular moniker? What thinks you?

This seems like an ode to a beloved grandparent or great aunt .....something you would write in the after shock of loss. The ryhme flows well but the true heart of the work I believe can only be felt by those who have been orphaned with this kind of passing.

Well done.
