The Lonesome Hearse

The Lonesome Hearse

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern

Outside the church

The lonesome hearse

Sits alone

In the empty parking lot

Sadness escapes

In the

Chilly air

It soars on high to the ceiling of slate

And the driver whiles and waits

And the day keeps dying on

It’s just a lesson, a question of fate

Someone is gone
