I Don't Care

I Don't Care

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern

I’m overwhelmed and unemployed

Sometimes so devoid of joy

Everything is dull and flat

But I don’t care about all that

I’m unconcerned, you’re unaware

I don’t care, I don’t care

Headlines: heartache all-around

But I don’t care right now

I don’t care at all ‘bout love

Or the lies you’re speaking of

I don’t care about heaven or hell

I don’t care about anyone else

I don’t give a s**t about your name

‘Cause in the end, it won’t remain

I don’t care, nothing will

It’s just time and ourselves’ we kill

Should the world disintegrate

I don’t care, I can’t wait

There’s nothing more that I can do

And I don’t care, ‘cause I am through

Traverse the alleys of my life

The slimy walls, the lack of light

All I’ve seen and all I’ve done

People think I’m weak and dumb

But I don’t really even care

They’re not going anywhere

‘Cause when the stars begin to fall

There’s room enough in hell for all

People talk and people stare

I don’t care, I don’t care

Whether or not life is fair

I don’t really care

I swear

I don’t care

I don’t care
