All in Your Dreams

All in Your Dreams

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern

Put your tears in a bottle

And cast it out to sea

Wish upon the morning star that you can’t even see

Through the clouds of obscurity

Angels start to weep

So raise your empty bottle to the sky

And wake up in your dreams

Like an old, nursery rhyme from your childhood

You remember not so well

It seems you’re stuck between the lines

In your own private hell

You can douse the flames but the smoke remains

Echoes of a silent scream

A thing forever dead within your past

But alive inside your dreams

Your heart sloppily sewn onto your sleeve

Nobody sees it in your dreams

Tomorrow will come

Whenever it does

Don’t sweat the clouds that are blocking out the sun

Broken notions melt back together

As unwanted memories evaporate

Try and keep it even in your dreams

To hold when you’re awake
