She Just Can't Get Enough

She Just Can't Get Enough

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern

She’s got this thoughtful kind of nod

And these unassuming eyes

She’s got a modest, an honest appeal

That seems to captivate the guys

When she walks on through the door

You hear the bells of heaven ring

She laughs when she don’t have to

It’s like the fluttering of angels’ wings

Out on the town

Out on her own

Still she is too smart to go home

With any gentle face

Yet she will string the bait along

And she’s so

Tired being lonely

But so

Sick of the same, old, phony

“Darling, I love you so much”

But she just can’t get enough

She’s lookin’ forward to her best friend’s wedding

The last, big girls’ night out

She’s smiling though she cries inside

When they all talk about

Their love and their future

Their pride and their dreams

And it’s a world of day or night

She’s somewhere in between

The pressure’s on

Her youth is getting old

Yet she don’t want to fight or sell her soul

Some control

And she knows

She’s so safe in her stagnation

Good times

No, she don’t wanna waste them

Ah, but she’s so in love with love

And she just can’t get enough

I saw her three years later

She lives in bliss and it has made her

So complete and undesiring

Of anything else

She’s got this dream to hold onto

Memories to read through

Scars and souevenirs all down her arm

She’d never thought of what she truly wanted

And I am invisible as before

Now she doesn’t have any comfort but

She just can’t get enough
