The American Way 2003

The American Way 2003

A Poem by Kieran James McGovern

The American Way

Infidels, malicious terrorists

Manifesting in mirrors across the USA
But here we come to save the day

In the American way

A daily dose of zeal for all

Forced systems, materialized lies

Believing every bit of brainwashed hearsay

In the American way

Killing is wrong no matter who does it

They think Jesus is an American soldier

Now we’re on our knees, to god we pray

In the American way

The hardest part seems to be letting go

Conceding, losing pride

Instead we’ll justify inhumanity by claiming god is on our side

Emotion shadows reason

When you’re so distanced from reality

Think with your own mind, not the institution’s, not your family’s

We create tomorrow today

But we must wake up before it’s gone

Don’t let this nation crumble and decay

It’s not the American way
