2003 - When You're Numb

2003 - When You're Numb

A Story by Kieran James McGovern

When You’re Numb

When you’re numb

Life weighs a ton

The clouds of hell

Block out the sun

Nowhere to hide

Nowhere to run

But you don’t care because you’re numb

When you die

It’s hard to cry

All the ugliness

Leaves the tear ducts dry

You sit and sigh

Tired of wondering why

'Cause nothing matters when you die

Joy is gone

Joy is gone

You’re dead but breathing, and everything is wrong

Life is gone

When you’re down

All luck is out

You’re so full of fear

So full of doubt

You think you’re going to drown

There’s no one else around

What good is anything when you’re down?

You kept right on

All battle-torn

Took what you had

And faced the storm

Hurt for so long

You lived this song

You've come so far from being numb

You kept right on

OMG! This hit me right to the core. I have felt this way and reading it just reminded me of that time in my life. I don't mean to rant on, but I swear I always thought I was alone. All of your words speak the truth. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this! Excellent writing!
