In Your Honor

In Your Honor

A Poem by rebecca j rivera

I remember the day so clearly,

When they told me you were gone.

Some of you leaving was expected,

and some were quite the shock.

With Grandma, Lynn, Mom and Joe,

there was time before we had to let you go.

We had a little warning,

for Cancer took your lives.

But now you are with God,

Watching and being our guides.

With Mark, Cam and James,

It wasn't quite the same.

You were taken from us by surprise,

We just could not believe our eyes.

You were all in accidents,

that claimed your lives so young.

We are angry, we are full of pain,

We cry but questions still remain.

Days go by the hurt goes on,

and I'm not the only one.

Some families look to God for help,

When nothing else will do.

The question that comes up the most,

"Why did it have to be you?"

I know its hard to hear but,

My children have things to do.

They will always be near you,

as your memories keep them alive.

Know in your heart they hear you,

love you and always will be near.

Go on living your lives if you will please,

We will watch and guide you with ease.

This is in your honor,

To keep you in our hearts,

It's time for those who love you,

To get a fresh start.
