Her

Her

A Poem by Kiddo

Shift in your seat and pretend not to notice

She's back again, always lurking in his mind

She'll never go away. She'll never fully leave him.

Her image persistantly floats in his head

The mention of her name

Your heart freezes

Try not to let it show

Shift in your seat and pretend not to notice

Why must it always go back to Her?

For once, just forget She existed

Why must you feel inferior?

How do you battle a ghost?

Shift in your seat and pretend not to notice

Drink your coffee and smile

She'll never go away. She'll never fully leave him.

You're powerless to memories

Nothing you do can change that.

So just shift in your seat and pretend not to notice...

Her

Absolutely brilliant! Can I steal it? Just kidding, although the poem fits quite nicely with a story of my own that I've posted here at the Cafe, entitled Candles. It's a story about husband and wife, who are going through a similar dilemma. Check it out sometime, when you have a few minutes.
In any case, excellent work here. Your writing was recommended by a friend of mine, and I'll have to thank her profusely for the suggestion.

A brilliantly truth is told here!
I myself have instances in my life where i have felt the same, I know others that have as well
It's true, what can you do about a ghost from the past of the one that is supposed to love you now?
It's true, what can you do about the memories, they are scribed into stone?
It's true, You just sip your coffee and smile.
Great job!
I loved how this was such a relatable poem!
