A StoryA Story by KiddoHer body shuddered. Grabbing the back of his neck, she pulled his head up to her mouth for a kiss. The kiss broke and she stayed there for a moment, straddling him in the bed that was much too small for this kind of lovemaking, reveling in the feel of him inside of her. A slow smile spread blissfully across her face and he chuckled at her. She liked that he could make her smile. Even now. She crawled off him and rolled over onto her half of the tiny bed. She lay on her back, marveling at what had just occured between them. It was one way to spend a weekday afternoon, that was for sure. They hadn't even closed the drapes. A small brown sparrow was looking in at them from the windowsill. Had he caught the whole show? He came back to the bed and she scooted over and pulled the comforter up around them, digging her feet deep into the warmth at the bottom. "Are you alright?" he asked her gently. She nodded and smiled, kissing him gently one more time. They lay there for a few moments, their hands together, fingers intertwined. The bird had flown away from the windowsill and an old 70's song was playing in the background. Had there been music on the whole time? She let her eyes wander around the small room, her focus landing on a chair, then on his pants crumpled on the floor, the ceiling, and her underwear near the chair. She knew he was watching her. She could feel his eyes on her as they lay in bed together. He protectively kissed her forhead and rested his head on her chest. Her heart was still racing fast and every part of her body felt electric and alive. She sighed softly and ran her fingers through his thick hair. "Hey," he said, for lack of better conversation. "Hey you," she replied. "You okay?" he asked. Again she nodded and he lifted his head from her chest. She rolled over and he wrapped his arms around her from behind. She felt so safe in this small little room, in his arms. She closed her eyes and tried to calm herself. He kissed her shoulder, sending chills down her back. "I love you," she said. He was silent. They had never gone that far. They were lovers, yes; but they never let themselves get too close. She knew it was a gamble, putting herself out there, unprotected. The silence rang through the tiny room like a gun shot. She needed him to say something, anything back to her. "I love you too," came the quiet reply as he kissed her shoulder again. Something about the way he said it made her smile again. She closed her eyes and turned to face him, pulling him close for another kiss. "...I always have." © 2008 Kiddo |
