Mother Nature, wrap me in your arms againA Poem by Kiara WinnowSolace in nature
Mother Nature, wrap me in your arms again.
Sing to me in the language of the trees. Soothe my soul as you smooth rocks with river rapids. Your winds pass through wood like my mother’s Russian lullabies. I sit upon a tree bent over a river. It’s roots tangle, diving deep within the Earth. How long has it stood? How much has it endured? The wood is not barren although it might look it. It is teeming with life and energy if you look close enough. Beneath the fallen leaf littered ground, Spring is patiently waiting to show her face. Something green is reaching toward the sun, I stoop to examine its leaves. Motherwort, here early. A plant said to remove melancholy vapors from the heart. I gently hold a leaf, feeling it’s softness. I close my eyes as I give thanks to this small sign of hope. Mother Nature, wrap me in your arms again. © 2023 Kiara Winnow |
