Just a Dream

Just a Dream

A Poem by K.H. Law
"

I took a few song lyrics and turned it into a poem. Songs used: Amazing, Set the Fire to the Third Bar, Vanilla Twilight, Losing My Religion, You Found Me, the Long and Winding Road.

"
That's me in the corner.
I'll say a prayer,
say a little common sense.
That's me in the spotlight,
losing my religion.
Stay right there;
but the lengths that I will go to...

but the   distance in your eyes...

I'm trying to keep up with you --

stay right there in our defense!
I've said too much:
"Stay away."
I haven't said enough:
Stay close enough to care.
The distance in your eyes:
I'm miles from where you are.
I'd send a postcard to you...
but I'll lay down;
lie awake and miss you
on the cold ground.
I wish you were here.
I'm choosing my confessions:
I love that name;

it's not the same without out;
I see it everywhere.
So I pray that something picks me up,

then the silence wouldn't be so bad --
if it sets me down

in your warm arms.
So I'll draw a map,
over rivers, farms and statelines.
I've seen that road before,
... it's only finger lengths that I see.
It always leaves me here.
Many times I've been alone,
lost and insecure.
Many times I've cried,
lying on the floor.
I've left a pool of tears
from crying for the  day that
you'd find me.
Let the rain...
... wash it away.
And when you found me,
lost and insecure,
lying on the floor,
was  barely  breathing
surrounded, surrounded.
But it was...

I thought that I heard you laughing...
stay right there; where were you?
I thought that I heard you sing...
stay right there; why'd you have to wait?
I think I thought I saw you try...

just as...

I'll forget the world that I knew--
Anyway, you'll never know
but I swear I won't forget you.
Many time I tried...
...dream.

Why'd you have to wait
to find me?
Why leave me standing here?
Let me know the way!
It's just a little late
to find me... I thought
but... I'l think of you.
it's just a dream.

K.H. Law
I was pretentious and king of really liked e.e. cummings when I wrote this. Don't judge too hard.

That's a pretty original concept, I definitely recognized the REM in it.
