The Binding

The Binding

A Poem by AKhaus

No mortal should feel this, these thoughts stringing to an inevitable fate.
Dreams taunting our fleshed minds and hearts with the possibility of escape.
There is no escaping that web that is drawn so strongly to your steps.
The binding was done before you even took that first breath.
You cannot jump forward or step backward to avoid the tormenting details of every second you must endure.
You must wait.
Wait for that black widow to come out of her den to wrap you tight and extinguish your light.
She's always going to keep to her timing.
She's always going to stay still even when you shake the web.
Her binding she spun.

No mortal should know this, feel this, see her coming as you lay stuck in her hungry wake.
