Walking

Walking

A Poem by AKhaus

I’m walking with the dead and falling behind.
I lag in their wake as my heart weighs me down with those moments you will always know.
Hiding in the sheets of time, I can see you there before we met.
You, never knowing that I was whispering love in your dreams, like a lullaby of fate leading you to my feet.

I’m walking with the dead and falling behind.
I remember the words you said and cannot seem to let go.
My death is slow but I feel you closer in the fogs that roll across this mortal tow.
