As I walk through the graveyard

As I walk through the graveyard

A Poem by AKhaus

In the cold of the night I mourn you.
I find myself walking into a drift of snow as I hold back this sadness.
As the snow falls lightly unto this stiff ground, I mourn myself.
I say goodbye to that shadow and walk alone through this graveyard.
The numbness crawls up my toes and I start to feel the ice pushing through my veins.
It's only here I can feel you at peace, as I get closer to the twilight just looming over this utter vacancy I hold inside.
In the cold of the night I mourn you.
In the darkness I am emboldened just enough to think of you.
No time can pass when I am in this moment of silence and the dead beneath my feet.
No last breath, no pain or regret.
I walk alone so that I can see you hiding behind those stones.
Tonight I mourn you and tomorrow I will forget until another night comes and I will think of you again.
