I am unraveled, broken and bent

I am here

I am stale, stiff and rancid

I am here

I am sadness, salt and dark

I am here

I am fragile, thin and raw

I am here

I am here whether you acknowledge that I am or just simply walk away

I am here whether you tell yourself I don't exist or have simply disappeared 

I am stark emotions pulsating with blood and bone

I am madness dancing on the fire as the night turns to day

I am the rhythm that beats in the ancient stones as the moon crosses the sky with a relentless hunger for the flames

I love the power of this, the claim for "I" to exist.

I am these things too - within us all I think and we cannot pretend it does not exist or has "simply disappeared" whether the wretched soul that is speaking is me or is some other wretched soul calling our attention.

Either way, we can say "you are here and I see you", knowing that I am (it is) also sane, strong, alive, well-nourished, joyful, mended and in no need of mending.
