Ophelia

Ophelia

A Poem by AKhaus

We lay ourselves down with the sadness of that sound.
Such consternation breeds as the grace of integrity was battered by thieves that stole it from itself.
The hunger reached out from its grave to make the truest heart frozen in its last beat.
The anger seethed from beyond the black to the purest hands turning them wretched with desire.
To be laid down to sleep by an angel only to watch her wings fail as the light seeped beneath that cold, iron door.
Deceptions thickened the air and it became impossible to breathe in that court of fools.
The unfair trade was made and the casualties many, no honor given to the crown which grew empty.
Promises whispered in hidden corners and bindings sealed with dried blood.
The tide turned into crimson waves as the night greeted the brave with a thousand blades.
