bell tower

bell tower

A Poem by AKhaus

Hang there from the concrete perimeter of that bell tower.
Grip those edges with your reptilian talons.
Taste the scent which fills the air and let those diamond eyes peer down.
As the night whispers to your ears, your howling rings with that bell.
What you are protecting is what will seal your demise.
What you are hiding is what will free your mind.
Stuck in the shadows of the night because you were told that is where you belonged.
Trapped by the dark hours because you were taught to believe that was all you could be.
Too long have you been blinded but such lies.
Too long have you been left to the quietude of those concrete walls.
Your flesh does not resemble scales and your eyes round as you lack the venom to kill.
All your devotion for an image, an idol so cold, so cold and you need to breathe.
Let go of that ledge and learn to be free.
You are not the monster they made you believe.
