When the dead speak

When the dead speak

A Poem by AKhaus
"

inpsired by the song "If I Die Young"

"
If only we could speak like the dead.
If only our words meant something now instead when that stone hangs above our heads.
If only the sweetness of love could be this deep when we are still alive.
How the vacancy rings louder than any voice, cutting deeper when we lay down forever.
How colors seems brighter when remembering you in the flesh after the flesh has gone.
We only seem to care the most when you leave the stage and not during your performance.
If only we could speak like the dead.
If only when I die you might understand, understand I was right beside you for some time.

Absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder. It's part of our still evolving human minds. When something or someone is readily available, our appreciation wanes. When we lose someone, or sense their imminent demise, we realize how much they meant or mean to us. Your words capture this phenomenon very well.
