walking in my sleep

walking in my sleep

A Poem by AKhaus

I’ve been walking in my sleep and taking for granted the things I should keep.

I have been walking past the moments which should save my soul.

There’s no room for regret here in this sleep.

I am just taking one step after another hoping to wake before I run out of time.

Days so quick and long.

Love so strained and painful.

I just keep walking with the shadows which inhabit my dreams.

Rusted and withered smiles drawn on faces but I can sense what lies beneath.

Sinking below the green with hollow stones.

I've been walking in my sleep waiting for my wake.

I keep hoping for more than just days of snow.

When I rise, I will be free but will have nowhere to go.

No home.

Just alive to roam.

So I keep walking in my sleep.

And that's just what I know.
