bleeding in the dark

bleeding in the dark

A Poem by AKhaus

I'm still bleeding.
I am still bleeding even though my heart has stopped.
And here you are again, my darkest friend.
You've been waiting patiently in those shadows to come back from that slow coma.
I'm still bleeding, but at least it's less of a spectacle in this dark.
You are and were my greatest secret sliding below the light of day.
You always wait for me when I need you.
You return constantly when others seem to fade.
I'm still bleeding even when we change the sheets.
The wound doesn't repair as my eyes swell with the storms and violent rain.
I am still here, still bleeding but no one ever returns but you, just you my darkest dark.

I have a feeling that what is being addressed is depression, "my darkest dark." The bleeding referred to is ongoing emotional pain, the precursor of the dark. It is the "wound that doesn't repair," and the storms and violent rain are the tears that result from it. Yes, for those who have it, depression is reliable; it always returns.

i could also see this as the dark muse returning...
when all others leave us...the muse seems to be the one constant...the one lover who stays...
she takes her little jaunts away, but always comes back.
i really like this piece,I like how it is left open in a universal way so the reader can plug in his or her own theme.
