bereft where I lay

bereft where I lay

A Poem by AKhaus

It's not life and death, it's simply night and day.
It's not a tragic ending, just silence that fills the space you would once stay.
What once took my breath now is bereft where I lay.
Not a painful goodbye just a matter of walking away.
Keeping that love tucked deep down inside and maybe I will see her again.

Featured Review

A sparely worded piece that apparently masks a sense of loss and emptiness. Someone has walked out of a life, leaving a void that has not been filled. The speaker has not emotionally released the other yet, and on some level is resisting doing so. That may simply dig the hole deeper.
