The darkness in me

The darkness in me

A Poem by AKhaus

Maybe this darkness in me is just who I am.
Everyone telling me I’m awkward and cryptic.
Maybe it’s just me!
The darkness is who I share this journey with and why must I apologize.
Maybe it’s just part of me.
Why assume this darkness is evil or violent when it’s the love of strange and odd.
Maybe it’s what I am.

This brief poem could be a stand-in for the feelings of many. Many outgoing people think others should be like them and have trouble relating to the inwardly directed individual. Interestingly, the poet refers to it as a "darkness." I don't think we're talking about depression here, just a different focus. An interesting work.
