surreptitious

surreptitious

A Poem by AKhaus

You display such sweet vines and bright flowers.
Your kindness is beyond words.
Always giving, sacrifices that are immeasurable.
And yet, when the wind blows harder and the ground becomes unsettled...your mask falls and the monster appears.
Control is all you want.
Control is how you feed.
Never does it matter if it provokes happiness or misery, you are fed regardless.
Haven't you ever wondered why you cannot connect?
Always seeking approval, craving praise as you keep up that facade.
Gather ye parishioners to defend such hollow honor.
Yet when the storm comes they drown around you without you ever being bothered.
