the forgotten heart

the forgotten heart

A Poem by AKhaus

I have forgotten how to feel the textures of my own soul.
I've lost my sense of balance in this storm.
My reflection in the mirror haunts me in my dreams of a person who I used to be.

I have forgotten my heart by the side of the road as I ran away.
I've lost my sense of meaning in this chaos.
My reflection in the water seems eerie and reminds me of a person I should be.

I have forgotten my curves, my lines of inspiration.
I've lost my sense of truth in this collage of beguilement and betrayal.
My reflection in your eyes reminds me of a person I'm suppose to be, yet it is a hollow shell echoing in the abyss unfamiliar.
