Unguarded

Unguarded

A Poem by AKhaus

It takes time to turn the pages and sometimes the paper cuts deeper than you would like.
Who would have thought a dusty old book would hold so many suppressed emotions and forgotten moments.
All seemed so clear in black and white, yet now the hues are seeping through.
My red life soaking into the wood and my heart mesmerized by the warm flow.
He didn't know, he never knew that there was a dragon in his belly.
Lead feet and cold stone fists, he managed his madness with delicate remiss.
Down he went, thumping to the ground, solid ice and hollow sound.
His assassin was his vain and propagated fate taking it's toll for all which he gave.
