the well diver

the well diver

A Poem by AKhaus

What I didn't realize was the number of times I have fallen down this well.
I guess in the chaos of emotional distress I thought that falling would be best.
Yet, as I came to my feet I noticed my blood as I found myself at the bottom of this limestone cell.
The clock would click mightily as I scaled the walls thinking this would free me.
Little did I know, down the well I would go as soon as she would break my will through familiarity.
It only took the word of a onlooker and sayer that would unseal these eyes to see my repeated demise.
And so I ran from that well and found myself above ground released from those lies.
