linger

linger

A Poem by AKhaus

I linger there, in the curtains hiding from the explosion.
Violent outrage spewing out of his face.
Trembling as the fire blazed through the room, I saw the emotional carnage lay waste in his wake.
I retreated to another space in mind.
I fall hard and away.
It's always the secrets that makes me stay in that room.
Caged by the guise of man in the moment of the need for normality, I waste there.
Sweetest lullabies under her breath as she cleans and covers the mess.
How long can paper walls shield us from these seasons?
