The stirring

The stirring

A Poem by AKhaus

Hear it rustling in the weeds

Hear it digging deep

Hear it gnawing on those reeds as the water rises to its feet

Hear it scurry, quick and wild

Hear it laughing all the while

Hear it coming near

It’s the stirring of you in that mirror

You didn’t notice the story in the eyes

Your soul is stirring, searching for another place to hide
