wonder

wonder

A Poem by AKhaus

I sit here and wonder, and I wonder...will that box ever open and spring forth happiness?
Then I remembered, everything is work and you shape the path you follow, you make, you walk and take.
I'm tired and the bags under my eyes are darker than usual.
The room seems bitterly cold and my cat sits distantly from my gaze.
I lay here in this bed and wonder, and I wonder...will that cat say something that will wake me from this self induced coma?
Then I remembered, every creature needs fed and to feed you must be able to provide, you must be able to give and live.
I'm empty and the pockets of pain and loneliness feel especially raw tonight.
The rambling world keeps rambling outside and my dog lays quietly by me with her eyes wide.
It's an interesting moment and I cannot help but want it to last forever.
And I wonder, why ... why can't this silence and perfect solitude surround me, comfort me when I need her most?
