pyrrhic love

pyrrhic love

A Poem by AKhaus

please tell her I was here, I was here standing next to her the whole time.
she learned how to turn away without ever noticing my love, my fear.
black and blue my heart still pumps a little cry.
I tried to break in, tried to pull her out of what was caving in.
begging her to see my words weren't just to hear me, they were to hold you.
and how it feels sudden, it feels raw and unkind.
bare knuckles and broken ties, songs from your lips seemed true but were just lies.

This has the sound of a family breaking up, of a parent hoping that a child will some day understand why things happened the way they did. I gather the breakup was attended by harsh words and possibly hard blows. The last words give the impression that infidelity was also involved and bitterness yet remains. I hope writing this poem helped in some way. Good work here.
