.

There is no hurt greater than this,

Being countlessly rejected by publication after publication,

.

Then I think,

If my baby left me,

All the hurricanes’ in the world wouldn’t faze me,

.

I think to myself, as I tiptoe across a singular beam of steel, arms out to my sides,

I am walking across a great expanse,

Tipping my weight,

Back and forth,

Am I only upset because of this?

.

I forget when I’m so in my head, that I have more to be upset about,

What’s a publication got on my personal life?

.

I ease into the river, naked and ready,

I’m ready,

.

I’m calm,

I’m forgiving,

But to myself and not to others,

I am awake, and calm, and aware,

I breathe fire,

.

I am ok now,

Forever etched into the walls of my childhood home.
