I’ve felt immunity, dear

I’ve been unseen

I’ve walked a hundred roads, but never a single street

There’s a certainty within the strides that you take, announced with every step, every turn of your head, every blink, wink, whisper, giggle

I can see you with all of those other people; those “friends” whom you hold so high

“They’re all worthless” you later tell me, as we’ve gone home from the rain

“They will never understand me”, then, when you turn to look at me, it was as if a giant camera had been placed neatly between us, alternating shots of the both of us

“Not like you do”

It echoes in my head for a split second before you take my hand in yours and tell me how you’ve never seen me so sad before, “You’re upset”

You laugh just then, and a tear drops from my eyes, you get up to leave; another day passes and yet still, you are the same

Again and again, as it rains and then stops, as the morning sun rises and then drops, you’d tell me, time after time, “They’ll never understand my pain, they’ll never know my past” and then the same turn of the head, the same camera shots, alternating between the both of us, the beautiful eyes that bear straight through my soul, those words…

“Not like you do”

This is an interesting scenario as the protagonist feels isolated and used by a 'friend' who holds them in check using psychological restraints. It flows well and certainly is full of questions and emotional dilemmas.
