"Fools"
Khatoon Hazara ||| 7.14.18

dirty laundry litter the floor
im not sure if im that into you any more
but it doesnt matter, see, ive learned a lesson in my life
even if i wanted to, pleaded with god
id never get you out of my mind

but honey
darling
baby
dear, ive always only wanted you
here

and wrap your gentle arms around me
im not the one going crazy
hunt me down with bows and arrows
i feel
in my marrow, we will
be.

absolutely.

It's interesting the way the poem starts out, then veers suddenly to a new attitude after the first two lines. The speaker has apparently learned the great lesson of acceptance, the ability to embrace another despite faults. Then again, one wonders if this tolerance will persist ten years from now. A revealing look at the way it is between couples. Well done. All it needs is a spell check on the 3rd word of line 1.
