”I Saw the Moon”

We were driving home from a magical oasis

It was so ordinary

But, the light made it so

The night

The night made it unpredictable

More nerving

Scary

The soft glow of all the faint lights in the distant reassured me that everything was fine

All of the insects seemed to hover around my stench

All chanted together in union that everything was okay

Everything was alright

There were two cats there too

Hunting mice

Eating the infestation

I am there again, from the memories I’ve saved

Though now, it seems foggy, then, it was crystal clear

The air seemed heavy of purity

 

 

 

 

We can skip now to when we are driving back home

The wind and the breeze in the trees

Though there weren’t much of them that I saw

Everything was going too fast

It was unreal

My heart was beating like a drum

And all I remembered
was the blood rushing to and from my body

 

 

 

 

I remembered looking out the window distantly

In a daze, my eyes went to the orb in the sky

My focus steadied itself as the car made turns

The moon looked quite big against the small sky

It seemed as if we were flying

The wheels from rough to smooth as we ascended upwards

 

 

 

There were no repercussions

I had my eyes closed the whole time

Flying

With the wind in my hair

And the whispers of the trees

Spelling me sleep

So tired

Very fatigue

 

 

 

I remembered closing my eyes

In the middle of a pop of color

Traffic

No noise

Just the wind

Moaning

And making itself known to everyone

 

 

 

 

 

 My head was growing heavy

And it was a battle against fatigue

I was excited

It was a shadow

My heart beat racing

My blood pumping fiercely

Shadows

 

 

 

When I caved in

The noises subsided

And it got quiet

I had my head to my chest

Resting easy

My eyes closed

Everything stopped

 

 

 

The wind

The light of the cars

The movements

 

 

Everything was going in slow motion

But when I opened my eyes again

I saw the moon

Staring at me

And what he said

Would be another poem altogether
