"Tall Tales"
By: Khatoon Hazara

There was a fish in a pond
A frog on the shore
A moose in the grass, but he was a bore

There were mice who loved cheese, looking for more
There was a cat that banged his head on a door
A gaggle of geese, cute as can be
And a doctor running on an injured knee

Well, no one could look as good as me
Try as you may, if you please
Can you bend and hop and jump on one knee?
If you get hurt, please don't blame me

There were mice who can run
And mice who can skip
But Tally the mouse
Had too much lip

She boasted and roared
About her smashing school scores
As she ran and ran and ran
She never made it to the end
Maybe that's why she had no friends
So that's when a new era began
