"The Moment We Must Finish"

By: Khatoon Hazara

Just a little while will we wait

Through the flowers and past the gate

The tall river over yonder will famish us

And the buffet at the table will parch us

Here's to us; never having enough

Though the cold outside is soon coming in

The sun and the moon will bring us back again

And then soon will we wait for the gates to open

This blue and black moment

We will wait and wait until it is yet again broken

Plain out in English, can't you see what we didn't finish?

We must finish the unfinished

You say it has been quite a doozy; the situation has been dry

But here I say something more than what you would've

And always there is something in it that you've missed

Do you see now?

Here I am; waiting.
