"From the Snow Of Auburn Green"

By: Khatoon Hazara

The winter residue is blinding

The snow covers the trees in white velvet sheen

The leaves have already rusted, falling down in graceful timed measures

The animals are coming out, confused in playful endeavors

Why did ever such a tragedy fall upon the people of Auburn Green?

They were only coming out to play

What happened to the mooses' and the mices' who were being so mean?

Did the outcasts take them all away?

The rabbits' and the squirrels' all seem pretty clever

They went back inside

Bringing food to hide

So that later, summer will be there to find
