Humans

Humans

A Poem by FaeryQueen
"

on the spot

"

Carry it carefully

Like something tender

My heart

You swept away

With your words

And kind eyes

And I knew

You were the essence of chocolate

You were sweet

Like a Hershey bar

A little salty

Like a Lindor’s Malt

A handful of pop

Like Pop Rocks

And you were something else too

Something

That my finger couldn’t ever guess

Something my mouth could never have figured out

Something

Like those stars

Abstract

But so full of life

You gave me things

That nobody has ever given me before

I held everything in the cup of my hands

And drank from it

A little at a time

And I cupped them again

When you began to cry

Because your tears

Are made of gold

And them

I wish to hold

And keep

And save in a glass jar

You’re my favorite little concept

Humans: Concepts of Life

We are little

And tiny

And minuscule

And very clueless

When someone says, “Fire!” we scream and run the wrong way, into the mouth of the canopy

We will never learn

Never be

Never see

What our ancestors saw

Because their time

Has ended

So ours could begin

Let us free

Wings

Are only meant for flying

Running

Soaring

Gliding

Fighting

And dying
