walking a million miles to Nowhere

walking a million miles to Nowhere

A Poem by FaeryQueen

where are we going
that's taking us a long time to get there
why can't you tell us
instead of keeping it your own secret
we're an army of people
some barefoot
solitarily walking began
in the desert
charcoal and ashes falling
from the dying sun
our heels
are stained with the metallic taste
of burning flesh
as our heels bash on the sand
kicking up dust
settling elsewhere
dust on dust
we're playing a game of minesweeper
and we've only just began

I like this poem, it accurately describes soldiers marching on a beach or a sandy desert. A heart-felt tribute to those that so strongly defend our country. Any soldier would be proud to read this poem, thanks for sharing such a wonderful write and have a great day.

Sounds like those trying to leave the desert to what they hope will be a better life. Valentine

Struggle in a despotic life.
Well done, Khatoon.
Really liked the imagery.
