The Fools of Paradise.

The Fools of Paradise.

A Poem by Fairy Khan

How do we become the fools of paradise
even though we live in hell?
Why do we let hope kill us?
Why don't we get down the carousel?

Why do we ask questions
we already know the answers to?
Why do we say that the sky is green
when it won't make it any less blue.

Though the carousel doesn't stop turning,
But let's just take a leap of faith.
Maybe, we'll land on our feet,
There's a chance, even if the chance is wraith.

Why do we expect people to be more like us?
Why don't we just let them be?
Why do we burden ourselves with all the damage?
Why don't we set ourselves free?

Why does it still cause pain?
Why does it still hurt?
If I could, my dear heart,
You, I'd dead desert.

Though the carousel doesn't stop turning,
But let's just take a leap of faith.
Maybe, we'll land on our feet,
There's a chance, even if the chance is wraith.

Fairy, nothing ventured nothing gained. Don't be afraid to take that leap of faith, because you do not know how it will turn out. Many questions here, and I say go with the flow, don't fight it. Nicely expressed lines.

I've have always appreciated anyone who is willing to take a chance. Win or lose, kive or die, at least we tried.

I felt the emotion here Fairy... As usual, you write what's in your mind. Good read :)

Made me remember Kabir's words- wherever you are is the entry point!

This is poignant & expressive & heartfelt . . . your message feels subtle in expression, but it also feels like this subtle msg is fueled a VAST reservoir of powerful life experience, so much more drastic than anything I've experienced in my own life. I want to say that I felt the power of what you're saying here, but I know I have nothing in my life experience to fathom the intensity that I feel pretty certain you are living most of the time perhaps. Anyhow, this reminds me of the futile & circular argument against war (according to many in the USA who are completely addicted to the idea that we must have the most powerful military in the world & put our presence everywhere) . . . we cannot stop being a war machine becuz there are too many others "out there" who will NOT stop being a war machine. To this I've always said -- exactly what you're saying in your poem . . . we have to take that chance. We have to give peace a chance (to quote the late great singer & peace activist John Lennon). See how stupendously thought-provoking your writing is? (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A piece that raises many questions about our ability as humans to live in a parallel world in our heads where we behave in destructive and self destructive ways.

Indeed, John.
everyone is different, every country is different...i think ours tends to think that everyone should be like us...and that doesn't work for all...lots of valid questions asked here.
we need to live and let live...and express more love....if everyone did that we may have some peace. I really liked your line about the sky being green....i remember in Peanuts once...Linus asked Lucy why the sky was blue? and her response was "because it isn't green"---a leap of faith is definitely what we need.
