The skies, like dreams float free,
The ground beneath still breathes life,
It’s just me who has faded into oblivion,
While the rest of the world has passed by.
Desolation wraps me around in its warmth,
Solitude is solace,
Time is slow, and so is death,
So, forgive me if I am hopeless,
For even the end isn’t the end.
This is a powerful statement clarifying how it feels to be ambivalent about whether we live or die, which I believe is true for most people at some point in life. Your astute & mind-provoking end reminds me of how God will often hand out his biggest challenges when we think we're not up to the challenge just to show us we're not sizing ourselves up accurately (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
The wonder in this poem, and the feeling of wondering, is just so spot on. We've all felt this way before. But I believe, in the end, we'll be okay, and the way you wrote this, makes the reader think, really. Thank you for sharing this, it was a wonderful piece.

Sadness in these lines . That feeling of being hopeless really connected to this reader as does the desolation. There is an old saying 'it's never over till the fat lady sings', a strange saying, but I heard no singing. That means dear Fairy there is hope, and hope is everything. Good work here.

You are more than welcome poet. Keep writing and I will keep reading.
I agree dear Poet.
"So, forgive me if I am hopeless,
For even the end isn’t the end."
The above lines are true. We shall change, want less, give more and life can become more difficult. But, we must find the things that made us smile. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

'solitude is solace' - I like that. Often enough, we do find refuge in solitude and end up liking it more than what we'd really own up to. This piece had me thinking. Perhaps some ends are just there to start new beginnings...
Nicely penned.
