The Arch

The Arch

A Poem by Khadijah

I see a letter,
they say being abstemious saves but,
I no longer knew my way to the arch ..

The creeper pulled me in,
into the crevasse of absinthe,
whose each drop took me to the
botanical gardens of ease..

Rather being prone,
I was immunized they say

A wall had risen up between me and the world
reflecting more closely,  I realized
I lost the sense of smell !
it's no longer the pergola of happiness
I was taken to new land,
where I had become another being
setting foot for the first time on alien
and empty terrain..

I wanted to stir myself in,
doing something
but all that remained in me
was the thought of inability..

The inability in doing something,
The inability in finding the arch,
And the inability that totally ruled over me ..
