Beasts of the Safari
Who’s that crouching in the grass? Two yellow eyes will be the thing you see last. Pouncing and prowling all over the scene Creeping and crawling with a roar that is mean. In the grass you’re lost, but she is the Shepard Don’t make a sound, or you’ll wake the leopard
With hooves made to jump and run Stepping lightly in the shade from the sun To the water with deliberation Drinking long, but with hesitation Don’t move too quickly or she’s sure to bolt Run right past you like a charging cult.
Who is that I see off on a rant? Why that’s our great friend the elephant. Strong and majestic yet gentle and bright But don’t get too close or he’s bound to fight. Protection is a must in the kingdom of giants The matriarch is the queen and there’s no room for tyrants.
Proud and strong walks the leader of them all Making even the great hippo and panther feel small Never afraid, be it night or day He’s my favorite of all, what can I say? Who knows what the seasons will bring One thing certain, the lion is King.
The tallest of all the safari creatures A long skinny neck is one of its best features Getting the leaves way up high Reaching so far, almost touching the sky The long necked giraffe is of whom I speak To get a picture of him, one must sneak.
What was that? So fast I couldn’t see Not a gazelle, so what could it be? The sprinter of the plains Keeping on as long as energy remains Out of all he is the fastest The cheetah of course, he just ran right past us.
