Her hardened heartA Poem by Keryn ChapmanIt is about how I feel almost every day. I think some people can relate to this, trying to be in control of your mind and emotions
Her heart was hardened, shut down, beaten.
Her mind was the General, in control, torturing her. How could this have happened to that little girl I used to know? Her innocence was so pure, filled with light and affection. What happened? Was it the disappointment she had felt from her fathers actions? Or was it from the 17 year old boy who selfishly took her heart and never gave it back? All she knew now was that her heart was enslaved by her mind, not being able to feel a thing like a prisoner who had taken one too many beatings. Nobody could save her, she was at war with herself. She had gone too far, she was no longer at an arms reach. She was in her own prison, afraid of what might happen if she changed her mind. She knew that she never wanted to feel like that again, because it was easier to feel numb than pain. © 2014 Keryn ChapmanAuthor's Note
