Consequences

Consequences

A Poem by Kevin Mattingley

Consequences

Sometimes

Astounding actions are subtle

The simplest gestures, acts or words

Hiding in the shadows, unobserved

Between the passing seconds

Within the very shadow of time

Somewhere

A stumbling noise in the static

Glittering into and out of focus

Within the chaos of the unrelated

Is there some mysterious synchronicity

Where the fulcrum yields some meaning?

Somehow

The impulse does its duty

Close to the threshold

Truths totality

For there are no psychological excuses

For truth itself

Always reduces

To a single word

Choice

Sometimes

Consequences are realised

This is a great line there is a lot of wisdom in it.everyone has impulses..in the end it is choice.

This poem is so apropo after reading your critique of my poem! Performing any actions or not, using certain words or not, bottomline, it's all, What are we going to choose? And what are the consequences of our choices? It amazes me, still, what a poem can convey! Kudos! Barbara

Enjoyed this.....
As a believer that there IS no gray area.

We complicate...redefine...and make excepton our own rules of ethics...faith and natural law to
provide excuse to suit ourselves.
"It is...what it is...
nice format as well.
