Sleepy Thoughts

Sleepy Thoughts

A Poem by Reflexion

Sleepy Thoughts

Sleepy thoughts and dreamless reverie

Conspire to inspire

Fields and streams that teem with

Hope and life

Caressing wild-eyed love

In hands

That fill with the tears

Of martyrs and saints

Sleepy thoughts

Begot of nothing but vain fantasy

And as inconstant as the wind,

Which as we speak blows us from ourselves

Toward the north and away

From the clouds of the dew dropping south

Dreamless reveries

Speaking absurdity through

Their open existence among hopeful bodies

Bless angels and sinners

Without care for their past and present

Without courtesy and consent

Like tyrants in the night

They guide our ships toward shores

That smell like home

And feel like

A mother’s warm touch on

A young boys dreams

As he rests his way into

A blessed

Hopeful

current
