My biggest fear

Today

Is getting comfortable

Inside my life

All the drive

Toward more

Has introduced me to a person

I like

 

Am I willing to sacrifice

This life

Of fulfillment and growth

To become

Someone different when

Someone different has

Failed me before?

 

That’s the joy wrapped in the pain

The sacrifice that’s always married to the gain

 

What is certain

Is

That I am not the same

 

So F**K SOMEONE DIFFERENT

Hello,

Thank you for reviewing my work! Always appreciate people taking time to listen. It is a lost art! This poem is about finally being able to love yourself without identifying your beauty through the love of someone else and being fearful of going back in the direction of love which seems to be real. The whole fear obstacle is something I have struggled with since I lost the person that meant the most to me in the world. I have been scared to return to something or someone that could possibly leave, but I have realized the power of self-talk in all situations and the change of perspective belief in this concept can bring to all who struggle with any type of fear. Positive self talk allows you to truly embrace your fears with love and confidence and to let go of expectation. I can't live without first loving myself and then second offering it to someone, so this poem is my declaration of that idea.
