the only thing that's certain

the only thing that's certain

A Poem by Reflexion

It’s hard to imagine it any other way

It seemed natural as we sat around the table today

She just sat talking as we watched the kids play

Yes, it’s hard to imagine it any other way

It’s hard to remember that just the other day

When we saw her we didn’t know how long she would stay

“As long as the sun is on your face,” She’d say,

“then you can always imagine the clouds away.”

Yes, it’s hard to remember how it was the other day

It’s hard to find the right words to say

Been lost in the night so long, that

I can no longer recognize the day

When sunlight hit my face, I learned to turn away

Yes, it’s hard to find the right words to say

The only thing that’s certain is our happiness today

Yesterday is a relic we’ve molded out of clay

Tomorrow’s mystery confronts us in it’s own way

The wise and the virtuous can look back and say

Yes, the only thing that’s certain is our happiness today
